  • Dear Friends & Family,

It has been awhile since we have written to you all(except for
quick notes to ask you to pray).  The time just seems to slip by here—We can’t
believe it is May already. We only have 5 weeks before we come home for the
summer!!  Bev’s  mother used to say as you get older time goes quicker –she may
    have been right after all.

We praise God for each one of you!  It is so encouraging to us
to know people care and are praying back home.  We are reminded often that we
can do nothing of eternal value if we are not in prayer and covered with the
prayers of others. Also, we praise God for those who faithfully give financially
to our ministry.  We know it is tough times for everyone and yet you continue to
sacrificially give to help us and the children.  We serve a faithful God and you
all will receive a reward and blessing for your faithfulness to do what he has
called you to do for this work in Haiti.

To be perfectly honest we can’t remember exactly what we have
told you about these last couple of months and what we have not wrote to you
about.  Therefore, we will do a quick recap of some of the major things that
    have happened.

**  We were blessed with a special donation so that we could
go home in February for two of our granddaughters birthdays.  We were home for
two weeks and had a wonderful time with our family!

** We returned to Haiti on March 6th with a first time visitor
to Haiti, Chris Diedrick, accompanying us.  Chris stayed with us and the Walkers
for a total of 5 weeks. He worked at the Walkers school most of the time and was
a real asset to the school staff.  He was a blessing here as well –he was
willing to do whatever we needed help with. We pray that God used
his time in Haiti not only to bless those he came in contact with
but also to encourage Chris in his walk with the Lord.

**On Easter weekend, we had to let one of our staff go, Madame
Carol.  She was up for her 6 month probation review and we had several problems
with her work performance. It is always very difficult to fire people here
because we know it will be very hard for them to find another job.  Please
continue to pray for God to provide new work for that may suit her
    better.

**  On April 18th, we hired a new nanny, Madame Roseline.  She
is 45 years old has two older children who live up north in Gonaives.  She loves
the Lord with all her heart.  So far she is very quiet and seems timid but that
could change as she get used to us.  The children all have taken to her very
quickly, even Djouna. She has a gentle but firm way with the children and they
obey and respect her. We are very happy to have her on our staff and praise God
    for her!!

** We think most of you probably heard about Joe’s (one of our
staff) sons almost drowning in the ocean.  God did an awesome miracle in saving
both the boys lives and we continue to praise and worship him for this miracle.
Both of the boys are doing fine now.  Joe has now built a proper outside gate
for his yard so that the kids can’t leave the yard without one of the parents.
He is so happy and relieved about having the gate!!!

**  Last week was a very tough week for all of us.  Slyvanna
(our oldest girl) went back to her Uncle’s home in Port Au Prince.  Please pray
for God to guide and protect her.  The uncle is a Christian so we are relieved
that she won’t be going back into voodoo.

This year has been one of great joys and great disappointments
as well.  We know God is faithful and using both the good and the bad to bring
glory to his name and to perfect our faith. God has been teaching us that we
can’t live to please man but we must always be obedient to what God has told us
to do(which can be very hard at times). We are looking forward to a break this
summer—we trusting God for renewal on all levels emotional, physical and
spiritual.  Please pray for us as we begin to make all the preparations before
our departure on June 5th so things run smoothly while we are gone.  Please
continue to pray  for all the children and staff that God will provide, protect
and teach them all His ways.  We continue to pray that the children will grow up
to be lights and love warriors for God wherever they go in Haiti.

Thanks again for all your prayers, words of encouragement and
    financial gifts.

May God Bless each of you richly!

  • Dear Friends & Family!
    HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY!!!!
Today we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We are once again overwhelmed by Gods’ love for us! We pray that all of you who are saved will be praising God for the Salvation he provided through his sons death. We pray for all of you who have not accepted God precious gift that you will receive Jesus Christ as lord and savior of your soul today.
We do have two special prayer request we would like to share with you at this time.
    * Yesterday we had to let Madame Carol go. She was up for her 6 month trail review. We have had several problems with her since we hired her in November and after consulting Gary and Carolyn we decided it would be best for all if we fired her at this time. Please pray that God would help her find another job that she may be more suited for. Also, pray that will find a new person to fill her spot quickly (so we can train her before we leave Haiti for the summer). We need wisdom from the Lord, we want God’s choice for the position.
*Pray for Madame Edner (the wash lady for the children) she has very high blood pressure and is on medicine that can cause other problems. We have been trying for about 3 weeks to get some blood work and get her to a good Haitian doctor. Pray that we will be successful this week in getting her to the doctor so that he can change the medicine and check her out thoroughly. Pray that God will protect her from any complications from the medicine until then.
May God Bless each of you abundantly!
    Love & Prayers,
    Al & Bev

  • Hi Everyone!
Just a quick note to say MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!
As we give gifts to each other this holiday season, may we be reminded of the gift of salvation that God provided for our sins through his son Jesus. As we celebrate Jesus birth we need to remember that Jesus truly was born to die to give us eternal life.
We pray that God will bless you abundantly in the year to come with his peace and joy even when life get tough.
    We love you all!
We miss being with our family and friends for Christmas but we will be celebrating tomorrow with the children and staff. It should be fun time –if you like lots of noise and chaos –with 12 kids that is the norm. LOL
    Love in Christ,
    Al & Bev

  • WE NOW HAVE 12 –OUR HOMES ARE FULL!!! Reminds me of that movie “Cheaper by the Dozen”.
On Monday we took in our last girl. Her name is Stacy and she is two years old. She is very quiet and compliant right now—although they all were like that at first and now we can’t get them to stop talking. I guess we are a bad influence on the children. LOL She came to us through our friends Pastor Samuel and his wife Lunnie. They have been very concerned for her for over a year. Her mother does not have the means to takecare of her and she really did not want her. That was very evident because the child is not attached to mom at all –didn’t cry or seem upset when mom left her here. It was kind of sad to see but made it easier for the staff. The father has never been in her life and as far as we know there are no siblings. Mom would just leave her for hours alone while she went to try to sell stuff in the market. So we praise God that he brought Stacy to us!!!
Please continue to pray that we will have wisdom, strength, love and patience as we raise these children. Our desire is for all of them to be saved and be bold witnesses for him.
Please pray for God to lead the Walkers and us in regards to future homes for more children.

  • Dear Friends & Family,
Wow! We have been back in Haiti for almost 2 months. We are not sure where the time has gone but it has. The old saying time flies when you are having fun must be true or it could just be time flies when you are busy. LOL
We have certainly been that these last two months—when you have 11 children that is to be expected.
We would like to share a verse that God has given us for this year---2 Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. We are learning that we can do absolutely nothing on our own and we are so weak but we have the promise that he is sufficient and through our weakness his power can be revealed in the lives of all we come into contact with. We pray that whatever you are facing right now that this verse may be an encouragement to you.
Since we have not written in so long, there is so much we could tell you that it would be an extremely long letter. So we are going to condense as much as possible into prayer and praises. If anyone wants more details, you can write to us and we can explain it further.
    Praises
    * We have a new girl, Lovena, she is 9 years old. She comes from a home where the mother did not want her and often abused her physically. Lovena is adjusting well and seems to be a very good but timid child.
    * Djouna is now 10 months old and is very mobile and in to everything. She was sick with an ear infection a couple of weeks ago but is better now.
    * Haitian school started on Oct 3 and all 5 of the older children seem to be doing ok so far.
    * The 5 little ones are doing well in preschool with Bev. They seem to be settling down a little compared to last year.
    * Ivon (the aunt of Sonson and Pablo who had Aides) is looking so good. God has touched and healed her!!! A miracle!!!
    * Our staff is doing a great job!!! They seem to be more unified this year. Bev has started an English class for them twice a week and that seems to be helping with relationships.
    * Touch Ministries is working on providing us and the orphanages with solar panels so that we will not have to depend on city power or generators for our electricity.
    * The children’s church that Barb and I do in the yard of Emmanuel is going very well. We usually have around 15 people attend. God is moving in their lives even though at times it is a little chaotic.
    Prayer Request
    * Bev has had difficulty adjusting to once again seeing so many children suffering. Especially Marilyn (the sister of Pablo & Sonson) who has been very sick and not getting good care.
    * For Ivon that she will continue to live for Jesus and not return to voodoo now that God has healed her.
    * Pray for Babi, Tires and Lovena they are a little slow and Haitian schools are not very sympathetic or willing to make adjustment for those who may have learning problems.
    * Al would know how to install the solar panels and connect them correctly to our batteries once we get all the materials.
*We still need to choose a new person to substitute for the staff when they have vacations and for Friday night and Saturday during the day.
    * Continue to pray for Rachell (the staff member we had to fired in September for mistreating the children) that God will provide for her needs.
    * For wisdom and discernment in training and raising the children in a culture we do not fully understand or agree with sometimes. Especially pray concerning Sylvana she seems to have a lying and manipulation problem
    * We are planning to take one more girl for the House of Joy—Pray for God to show us his choice for the girl he wants in the home.
    * Our landlord has decided to almost double our rent for next year—pray for God to provide financially.
    * Remember our daughters and their husbands and our grandchildren back in the states. That God would be their provider for every need that they have.
    * That we will continue to draw on God’s grace and strength for all that he has called us to do.
Well, that it in a nutshell. Thank you again for your prayers, letters and financial support. We again realize how much we need all of you. We praise God that he has given us so many faithful people to support us in all these ways.
May God be with you and continue to draw you into a deeper walk with him.
    Love in Christ,
    Al & Bev
